They say that one of the first things you do when you get back from a holiday is book your next break. I can vouch for the theory. Having just spent a long weekend in Normandy, I am hankering for my next trip to France.
Perhaps it’s the influence of Valentine’s, or maybe it’s just that spring is on its way, but Paris was, without question, my first choice.
The Whitsun bank holiday is the weekend I’m looking at.
I love the ease of travelling to Paris by train – OK, and the fact I can bring back as much cheese and wine as I can carry – so I checked the cost and availability of the Eurostar. It turns out that I’m not the only person to have thought of heading for the French capital that weekend. They’re asking for upwards of £165 for a return trip at decent times.
So, instead, Air France will be taking me – for half that amount. Of course, that means I won’t be able to stock up on groceries. I’ll have to return another time. Shame.
I might book that trip sooner rather than later, though.
