Nicely niche: camper van calling

Find your niche – that seems to be the best advice for anyone looking to make the move to France and start a business. The new issue of Living France, out today, features the story of one couple who set up a camper van rental business.

Like me, they come from Brighton, and also like me, they have been drawn to the area around Bergerac.

Tony and Yvette moved to Monflanquin – one of France’s plus beaux villages – in Lot-et-Garonne, about 50km south of Bergerac, three years ago. Their retro-styled VW vans offer holidaymakers the opportunity to travel round the south west of France in quirky style.

Their niche business, We Dub You, certainly looks to be working out for them. They currently have five vans but have secured funding for a further 25.

Camper vans aren’t really very me, mind.

There was a piece in the previous issue of Living France about a guy who makes a living renting out classic cars. Now that’s more like it.
